Burmese Set Lunch in Siem Reap, Cambodia

by Samuel on April 8, 2013

For lunch today we decided to try something a little different, so we took a tuk-tuk to the Madalay Inn and Restaurant to gormandize on a Burmese lunch set nearby Central Market in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The restaurant was tiny in a breezy section of the hotel decorated with Buddhist sculptures and carvings. Our first course was a vegetable soup with chicken, garlic and ginger. The main course consisted of a flavorful and spicy chicken potato curry along with a sweet and sour fish dish paired with rice. To finish things off we were treated to tea and fresh fruit. Overall, the meal was satisfying although it was a little expensive ($13 total) considering the portions were rather small.
