Jonker Street Night Market | Travel Video

by Samuel on March 3, 2013

This travel video is a tour of us walking, shopping, eating Malaysian street food, people watching and taking in Malaysian cultural performances and music at the Jonker Street (Jalan Jin Hang Jebat) Night Market located in Melaka (Malacca), Malaysia.  This lovely strip in the heart of Malacca’s Chinatown turns into a bustling hive of activity with people crowding every inch of space along the street.  Malaysian performers entertain pedestrians on both ends of the strip while vendors line up one by one offering souvenirs, street food and refreshments.  We both stopped to eat carrot cake stir fry along with Cendol (a refreshing Malaysian dessert).  The weekend night market in Malacca is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from 6 pm until midnight.  It’s one of the top attractions in Melaka and it should be added to your things to do list while based in Melacca.

I loved Melacca, stayed there for a month last year. The Jonker Street market is always a bit funny 😉

Melaka was great! My favourite thing about the weekend market was all the street food and iced fruit drinks. Mmmm 😀
